Mariam's Kitchen
Mariam is a housewife in her late fifties. She is a mother of seven, four daughters and three sons. She has six grandchildren. All these family members live in one house. Mariam is always in her kitchen, preparing something for someone. Mariam says she actually lives in the kitchen, but she loves it. There, she works early hours, late hours, long hours and still she loves it. In her kitchen she has a radio, a television and even a computer. She has a set of shelves not only for utensil and glassware, but also for her favorite books, magazines and newspapers. To make it as comfortable as any other room, the kitchen is well ventilated and air-conditioned. Sometimes Mariam receives her female visitors there.

We live in a small, modern house in Asir. It has two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen - and there’s bathroom, of course! In the living-room, there are two green armchairs and a yellow sofa. In the dining room, there is a table and four chairs. In the kitchen there is a stove, a fridge and a table. Sometimes we have dinner in the kitchen.
We also have a beautiful garden. It has a lot of flowers and trees. Our children like playing in the garden. We are very happy in our house.

My grandfather is an engineer. He built our family house. He named it “Dar Al-Sa’adah”. All my family lives in this house. My favourite room is my father’s. He has a wooden desk, a large bookcase and a computer. He also has a big coffee table and two armchairs for reading. It’s the only room in the house where my little sisters and brothers are not allowed. I always read, study and work on the computer there.

Omar’s apartment is small, but it’s very nice and comfortable. It has one bedroom and one bathroom. There’s a comfortable living room, and there’s a modern kitchen. There isn’t a yard. But the apartment has a balcony
