Mariam's Kitchen
Mariam is a housewife in her late fifties. She is a mother of seven, four daughters and three sons. She has six grandchildren. All these family members live in one house. Mariam is always in her kitchen, preparing something for someone. Mariam says she actually lives in the kitchen, but she loves it. There, she works early hours, late hours, long hours and still she loves it. In her kitchen she has a radio, a television and even a computer. She has a set of shelves not only for utensil and glassware, but also for her favorite books, magazines and newspapers. To make it as comfortable as any other room, the kitchen is well ventilated and air-conditioned. Sometimes Mariam receives her female visitors there.
