Hello everyone,

This is first topic for me hopefully you like it.


When to capitalize nouns

1- Name of specific people.


CAPS

Ahmed, Mohammed, Jordan, Steven family.


NO CAPS

Family, boy, grail, sister, cousin.

2- Days of the week, months, and holidays but not seasons.

CAPS

Monday, December, Ramadan, Eid, Easter.


NO CAPS

Autumn, fall, spring, winter, summer.


3- Ranks and titles, but only when used with a particular person’s name.

CAPS

This is Doctor Kaled, this is Aunt Nora.

NO CAPS

That man is my doctor, that woman is my aunty.

4- Geographic areas: cities, states, countries, rivers, oceans, streets, parks, etc.

CAPS

Saudi Arabia, Al-Forat River, Atlantic Ocean, King Abdullah Street, South of Saudi.

NO CAPS

The ocean is deep, the mountains are high.

5- Historical periods.

CAPS

World War 1, the Middle Age, the Civil War.

NOT CAPS


It was a long war. We live in an age of computer.


6- Religions, nationalities, races of people, languages, countries and adjectives related with to those countries.

Muslims, Japanese, Arabic, Syria, German measles.


7- Specific school courses, but not general subject.

CAPS

I’m taking Math 101 and History of Egypt.

NO CAPS

I’m taking math and history


8- Name of specific business, buildings, organizations, etc.

CAPS

Apple Computer, University of Toronto.

NO CAPS

I want a new computer. I plan to attend a university.


9- Brand names.


CAPS

Mercedes Benz, Polo, Gucci.
