Spirit V Flesh
Today I awake and began to pray
Just like any other morning on any other day
I would give thanks and glorify the Lord
Blessed and assured that my prayers was heard
Today dear Lord I am not at my best
There is a battle between the spirit and the flesh
The Spirit want to pray and be at its best
The flesh want to lie in bed and enjoy its rest
The Spirit need grace and guidance for the soul
The flesh wants food fried and serve in a bowl
Emotions step in to bring harmony and peace
And did more damage for she thinks as she please
Discerning rise up from the depth of the belly
Scorning the flesh for something was smelly
This war between the spirit and the flesh
Continued this day to rob me of my rest
Now I was ready to fight I was put to the test
Who's side was I on the Spirit or the flesh
Just then willpower came in and put his feet down
Reminding the flesh that it belongs to the ground
Victory for the Spirit she has won the war today
Flesh humbly kneel down and began to pray
But went the emotions the pain and the sorrow
In came renewed strength to fight again tomorrow
