It's one the greatest obstacles i have found in the teaching profession; apologizing to students after realizing a mistake made in previous lessons.
Some experts call it intellectual honesty!
How many of us go back to our classes and say "I am sorry about what I told you yesterday, it was wrong, here is the correct thing."

No body is perfect

Believe me

I found no difficulty in doing that

I do that when I realize that I made a mistake

I even tell them " I'm not sure of this piece of information , I will look for it today as I want you to do the same " 0

when there is something I feel uncertain about

:)So it's not an obstacle at all

Actually I did it this week
!!
My 3rd grade had a quiz ,I asked them to give the same meaning of ( Out of order) but I forgot and wrote
Out of Work
!!
some answered correctly , the others didn't
So I said hey guys I made a mistake about this word and you don't have to lose some marks because of me... So would you want me to omit this question or what
?
but they didn't mind
(-:

I think
Apologizing to the others whatever they are is a great step forward to overcome self-weakness

thanks Naseem for such topic , confession relieves

it's an embarrassed and humiliated situation
.
.
so, we should take care of being Not wrong
if you said "no body perfect", I can say " Don't go to your class Unprepared" .. in order to avoid some mistakes

regards Naseem

i think that apologizing to your students is a matter of honesty that all of us should stick to.

thesr is no shame or embarrasement in doing that. in the contrary, it may increase truthfulness and trust between you and your students.

once, i gave my college students an unintenional wrong mistake. i discovered my mistake late at night. Believe it or not, i didnt sleep that night. the other day i told them that i had given them wrong information and corrected it to them.

Frankly , i was afraid that someone would discover my mistake before i do, but, praise be to Allah, i was the first one to discover it.

I agree with u Naseem . i also apologize for making mistakes in class . I tell them that we are human being we might make mistakes . It's not a shame to make mistakes but it's a shame to insist on committing this mistake again and again .
Thanx Naseem for this topic

Thanks alot

totally agree and I wish the students and the society in general could understand that.
Parents, students and everyone else still consider the teacher to be a kind of perfect person. They learn not only what we teach them but copy our ways. We are models, aren't we?

The only other situation in life where I see the same treatment is when a surgeon is coming out of the operation room after a surgery. How many of us expect the doctorhave lost the patient? We all think he succeeded, don't we? I often pity doctors when they say "We did everything we could ....."

Apologize...great! it earns respect. Once is ok, twice, m m, third more than third you've lost CONFIDENCE - the only thing that links your students to you and just like in hospitals they will try other doctor.

And if you become that teacher who is always saying "I am not sure girls, I will check and tell you tomorrow." Your respect is gone still.

Poor me

I have done many mistakes

but I think that I don't have experience at all
accept my regards!

I think apologizing to your students should be an indirect way

Coz they never ever forget a declare apololgizing

At least when your students are boys

It's my opinion

thank you sis

Yes , of course .. I would do it and apologize..

Moreover , I use my mistake for reinfocing them

to encourage them ..

I always tell them people always make mistakes

No one is righteous even me , I make mistakes in English

as they do .. It happens , so never feel shy or embaressed about it..

Nice topic to be discussed

^^

Thanks Dearest Naseem

Nice topic

thank you Naseem

l think it's not shameful to apologize to your students

we are humanbeings ,, we do alot of mistakes

it will strengthen the relation between the student and the teacher

l do remember some of my teachers came and said l'm sorry about that point
l think l was wrong

believe me they had more respect and it's comforting when you realize that your teacher care for the information they say

accept my passing
