- u shd read the literary work before starting the course and you can ask ur professor about it.
- u have to re-read it while discussing it in class: u can devide it into sections according to weeks
- its a must that u have an idea what the work is about considering the story itself, its characters, and mainly its era....what i mean is that you get the general idea of what the author is trying to say....
- u can use summary books that are found in bookstores....they are useful in deviding the work into major topics which will help alot in ur readings about the work......BUT do not quit reading and stick to the summary coz it drops many imprtant events in the work......( believe me,,,,i learned that the hard way !!!)
- try websites such as sparknotes to give u ideas and a deeper view of the work.
- make a notebook for every work and devide it into sections covering:
characters- themes - setting ( time + place) - history ( author + events )-
then try to make notes every time u read about the work....
what i mean is to read as much as possible about every detail on the work then rephrase the informations u get into ur own words then write them in ur notebook...
- while reading and making notes....try to see the connections between the events and the characters....also between the history ( political+social+religious+ economical) and the info given through the work itself....
- by the end of the course you would have a complete notebok of ur own full of everything u need considering the exam....
while studying....try to make a new notebook for quotes and examples ( characters + events + objects + settings + words ) that are related to ur point.....use them as proofs of what u say.....this way u'll surely gonna get extra marks.....
- before the exam....try to investigate about ur professor.....try to find what she prefer.....coz some like long extremely detailed answers....and some like short and brief ones....
during the exam,,,,,devide the question into points....make a chart for every point in the questin...of what it might demand.....revise the charts over and over and omit points that u cant prove with examples...or ones that ur not sure about thier spelling>>>>>( there is nothing worse than mis-speld words in ur answer sheets.....!!!!!!)
- try to stick to the point all the way through....and check ur spelling several tomes before handing out ur paper....
i hope i helped........
good luck to u all...
