Definition: To believe that you can eat more than you really can; overestimating your appetite or hunger
Example: 1) Every Thanksgiving it's the same thing -- my eyes are bigger than my stomach, and I can't finish all the food piled on my plate
Etymology: Sometimes when you are hungry, you think you can eat more than you really can - your 'eyes' can see (or imagine) yourself eating plate after plate of food, but your stomach isn't big enough for all of it
