Albert P'Rayan

I have always found that female students are better than male students at learning languages. Almost every year my students debate the issue. Most students do not agree with my statement that women are better than men at learning languages. They say that language is not specific to any one gender and language proficiency of a person depends on their interest and exposure to a particular language. Yet, some students believe that women are good at languages. Some of the reasons given by the students are:

Women love chatting.
Women read a lot.
Women do the work (language homework) assigned to them.
Women are result-oriented.
Women are more imaginative than men.

I look forward to reading your comments.

hehehehe :smile (71):......I expected such replies when I 1st read the title.. ..Everyone is defending his or her gender...That may be fair as long as we look at it this way ! For me, I agree and admit that females are better than males in learning and even mastering foreign languages << from Latin lingua "tongue". So no doubt about it:):) .

To me , this is a noncontroversial fact. Actually, I always believed in it...Take saudienglish as an example ... the overwhelming majority of members and moderators are FEMALES .. Phone and net chatters are mostly women....

AND above all, their written and even spoken English surprised me here in the forum or similar forums and in learning rooms I roamed since a decade ago - ...I wonder if they are also proficient -the same way- when it comes to teaching??. Supervisors of English and principals can tell..I'm waitin' 4 an answer !

This academic year, I could tell that most male teachers lack some key and important skills and competencies concering language and teaching.. and need tens of training courses to be well-qualified and ready to teach..I hope this is not the case regarding female teachers of English ! Thx bro

well, to be honest the language and teaching it has nothing to do with the gender
i mean the woman and man who are so interesting to teach English could be the suitable person in the right place

i think so

very good topic
what this study actually shows is that women are better
than men at learning language, but this is not (necessarily) the same as saying women are cleverer than men LOoOLz
anyway.
.......in my opinion, it depends on anyone's will to learn more and more
thanks a lot for sharing us

From the answers to the above - mentioned question
I come to the conclusion that
This forum ( saudienglish ) ismainly dominated
by our sisters ( ladies ) and men are merely
passers - by
:smile (97):
I hope I am mistaken
That is enough

Hello brothers and sisters

that's nice topic

actually, in my opinion

there is no specific gender to be the best at learning the language

to be honest, there is no difference between men and women in this field

sirhasan

thank you so much
