At The Zoo
First I saw the white bear, then I saw the black;
Then I saw the camel with a hump upon his back;
Then I saw the grey wolf, with mutton in his maw;
Then I saw the wombat waddle in the straw;
Then I saw the elephant a-waving of his trunk;
Then I saw the monkeys-mercy, how unpleasantly they-smelt

Thackeray Style
. He is a comic illustriotater and satirist. His best stories are funny, satirical and historical which represent England society he lived in. He is best known for Vanity Fair in which he satirizes upper-class London life manners.

What is the difference between Dickens and Thackeray?
Thackeray was totally against poor people. He reviles the savage dominant classes in his society.
Charles Dickens defends low class's rights, and writes most of his heroes in his books from the low class like poor Pip in Great Expectations.

Why his works are not popular any more?
The first is that people may feel that his themes, while appropriate for his time are no longer relevant in ours.
The second is his style, which is also distinctly not modern.

William Thackeray Quotes
“ When you look at me, when you think of me, I am in paradise. ”
“ The world is a looking glass and gives back to every man the reflection of his own face. ”
“ Those who forgets their friends to follow those of a higher status are truly snobs. ”
“As we go on the downhill journey, the milestones are gravestones, and on each more and more names are written; unless haply you live beyond man's common age, when friends have dropped off, and, tottering, and feeble, and unpitied, you reach the terminus alone.”
