My Fish

All week long
my mother said,
“Go feed your fish
or he’ll be dead.”

By Saturday
my fish had died.
It made me sad.
I cried and cried.

“Don’t cry,” she said,
“you got your wish.
I told you
you should feed your fish.”

I wish I’d one more
chance for that.
And so I fed him
(To my cat.)
