How learning of second language affected your knowledge of first language

I think learning of second language do affect anybody specially those who use it most of their life. For me it makes me aware of many information that I didn’t know before even in Arabic. Like when I want to translate a medical passage I discover a lot of science information I haven’t read it before. On the other hand, learning a second language makes me a little bit away from my native.
