IN The Name of Allah
I will tell you some information about "prefixes":
let's start:
what do prefixes mean???
Prefixes mean "not" so I mean prefixes give you the negative meaning (= opposite meaning).
These prefixes occur (= appear) in the beginning of the words.
Now let's take some of prefixes:
First: un-
This prefix is very famous and common.
Exampels:
unable , unuseful , untidy (= not in order ; in a mess) etc...
Second: in-
we often use this prefix before words with a latin origin.
Examples:
invisible(= cannot be seen) , inadequate(= not good enough) , informal etc...
Third: im-
we use this prefix before some words beginning with "m" or "p".
Examples:
impolite(= not polite) , impatient(=they can't wait for things ; they want all things fast) , immoral etc...
Fourth: il-
This prefix can be used before "l".
Examples:
illegible(= impossible to read because the writing is bad) , illegal (= wrong) etc ...
Fifth: ir-
It is only used before a few words beginning with "r".
Examples:
irregular , irresponsible etc...
Sixth: dis-
This prefix uses before some adjectives and a few words.
Adjective like: dishonest etc...
Verb like: disagree etc...
Now we will talk about "verb prefixes" : un- and dis-
With verbs we often use these prefixes with them and they give you the opposite of an action.
Examples dis- :
disappear ( opp of appear)
disagree ( opp of agree)
dislike
Examples un- :
get undress (= put on clothes) ; ( opp. of get dress)
unpack (= take things out) ; ( opp. of pack)
In this part of lesson we will talk about some other verb prefixes with specific meanings:
First: re- (= again).
Examples:
reopen , retake , reread , redo etc...
Second: over- (= too much)
Examples:
overdoing (= working too hard) , overslept (= slept too long) etc...
Third: mis- (= badly or incorrectly)
Examples:
misunderstood , misbehave , misread etc...

That's all

Thank you
