The word “wed” is derived from the ancient Greek word for “pledge.” And that’s exactly what a wedding is, no matter what country it takes place in, no matter what culture it’s part of. To wed is to pledge yourself to another. There are few acts we perform that are more pure or more beautiful than the act of marriage.
If we are lucky, we find our one, true soul mate.
Marriage is the most solemn pledge we make in our lifetimes. Traditionally the wedding pledge is made in front of family and friends who take special pains to stand up and witness our pledge. The wedding pledge is to be true and faithful and loving to another human being. To wed is both the most basic of all human pledges, and at the same time the most sublime.
Marriage carries with it the most solemn of promises, but it also embodies the potential for the greatest joy of human existence – the pure joy that flows from two hearts beating as one. There are few joys in life as deep or as long lasting as the joy that springs from the well of true love and a lasting marriage.
Marriage is the strongest bond the world has ever known.
We even have a term for it: soul mates. Two people, individual but at the same time inextricably a part of each other, so in-tune with the wants and the needs and the desires of the other that often words are not necessary. A mere glance between two lovers speaks volumes.
In almost all cultures the marriage ceremony ends with the bride and groom exchanging a kiss. The wedding kiss transcends cultures, it bridges tribes, it is one of the very few things that bind all of us together as human beings. From ancient times to the modern day, from the deepest jungles to the tallest skyscrapers, the wedding kiss symbolizes for all people everywhere the physical uniting of two souls.
Love truly does make the world go around.

When the set day of the wedding comes, there are a lot of things to do. First of all, it has to be on Thursdays and Fridays, as Thursdays and Fridays are the weekend here in Oman. The bride's family prepares the bride very well. They decorate her hands and feet with henna. Also, they but on the make up at a salon. In the past the brides wore a green dress, but nowadays they prefer a big white dress, the bigger, the better. On the other hand, the men in the groom's family prepare the groom with a haircut and put an expensive scarf on his head and an expensive kangar. At night, they celebrate either in the house or in a hotel, or outside in an open space decorated for the occasion. The women arrive at first with the bride and dance. The groom arrives later. Then they sing together and dance. In addition, they take photos together. After that, the couple goes to sleep. After the wedding day in the morning, the bride's family visits the bride and the groom family prepares lunch for them. Also, people go to eat lunch and congratulate the groom. After three days, the groom and the bride leave for honeymoon to start a new family.
Finally as you read, weddings in Oman have special things and its own costumes. It is totally different from other countries. I hope you it as I do. I want our traditions to continue forever, because it is the source of happiness for Omanis.

A Pakistani wedding is a beautiful combination of bright colors. In fact, it is one of the most enthusiastically celebrated occasions. Grooming of bride starts at least a month before the ceremony. The relative girls of both bride and groom make beautiful dresses for the ceremony. In addition, the dress of the bride is one of the most important things. The wedding dress here in Pakistan is made with beautiful fabric on which different types of embroideries and embellishments are done. The typical color of the wedding dress is red but now with the advancement of fashion other colors are also being used
