actually a sonnet and an essay are completely different types. So, um asking u 2 focus and tell me if u need it to be as a sonnet or an essay so as to be able to help u.

well, a sonnet is a lyric poem cosists of 14 lines \verses
an essay is written the same way as we write a paragraphe but a pargraphe may consist of one page only, an essay should consist of 2-3 pages or more
in case u ask about the steps of writing a paragraphe i'll give u a breif description:
in writing a paragraphe u should put in mind:
1- paragraphe coherence
by developing a SINGLE IDEA, a pargraphe should be organized (a beginning, a middle and an ending)
2- connecting sentences through ideas
connect ur sentences through their content, by picking up sth from one sentence and carrying it into the next.
3- connecting with words and phrases
by using: - synonyms
-word patterns (such as: first, second,third ...)
-transitional words and phrases such as:
*for time or place: above, across from, before, behind, below, beyond, elsewhere, farther on ......
*for giving examples: for example, for instance, specifically, to be specific ....
*for showing similarity: similarly, in the same way, equally important ....
*for emphasis: indeed, in fact, of course ...
* for consequences: accordingly, as a result, therefore, consequently...
*for amplification: and, again, also, furthermore, in addition, moreover, too ...
*for restatements: in other words, more simply stated, that is, to clarify ...
*for summery and conclusion in the end of the paragraphe: altogether, finally, in conclusion, in short, to summerize.
(PS: u should put in mind the rules of the punctuation marks such as the comma(,) thecolon(:) the semicolon(;) the quotation marks (“ “) the apostrophe(‘) the exclamation mark(!) the question mark(?) and the capitalization of words, and using all of these rules in their right positions)

I think ur taecher is asking u to write an analysis to this poem as a sonnet in a form of essay .
