Hello every 1,

This is something that I would like to share with you and I hope that we won't hesitate to participate and help. First I would like to tell you about something that I’m really worried about, it’s my language, my English. I just joined government school last year when the need for English teachers increased to teach sixth graders. I quit my old job to teach in a government school. In my first job, I used to speak English all the time because I was working with non – Arabic speakers. I did benefit a lot from working with them. My language got stronger and my skills improved. Something else, I was attending workshops, presentations and conferences which require a lot of work like reading, working in groups, cooperating and presenting. There is a big difference between my first job and the recent one. I am very worried about my language. It’s not as strong as before. I don’t speak English at school except with students. And the syllabus is so easy that it doesn’t improve the teacher’s skills. I feel that I’m losing my English. So please let’s benefit from each other and try to create a LEARNIG ENVIRONMENT. By learning environment, I mean that we share what we are learning with each other. It can be idioms, expressions or some new words. We can even remind each other of some grammatical points that we might forget. That’s what our dear supervisor, instigator, is doing. From time to time, he is teaching and reminding us of some useful and valuable information. Thanks a lot for doing that, brother. So please let’s start doing that… Who will have the courage to start??  This is for the benefit of all members.

What a brilliant idea! You are quite right. We do need to maintain our language. To tell you the truth I felt quite sad when I've seen the way your old job benefited you. I hope that you will feel satisfied with yoour new one. I am with you in what you have suggested, and for this matter I propose we start a post in which each member posts a new phrase or word in context. This way we can expand our knowledge of new words. In adition, I believe that reading is a very important source of improving our language. We need to share whatever short stories or anecdotes we have. We need not only to learn the language but also taste the language and enjoy it

I had the same problem when I also quit my first job where I worked with non-Arabic speakers
I found my self losing my language day by day
Thank god I managed to keep it by sharing any new book or words with a very special friend
We didn't actually stop our old routine in anatomizing words and sensing their beauty

I enjoyed this forum particularly cause we're helping each other maintain our language

I'm willing to share anything with all of you at anytime

Frankly , we need to discuss each other, to introduce anew ideas and topics
We already to do any thing to improve our language

Anyway, as teachers of English fearing to

We have to work on to keep our language
wealthy of vocabulary through reading
materials in English. Also, through listening
to speaking English channels, we can
make a step up to improve and maintain
our language. Practicing language through
.speaking is the best way to improve it
Furthermore, to improve your language you
must overcome some of your own obstacles
such as being shy to speak English with
.others and being afraid of making mistakes

i do really believe that most of us lose their english

specially after the graduation although we use it in our schools

to avoid this lose one should raise his/her

intrinsic motivation which is an

innate drive stemming from within oneself


in language learning students are compelled to

learn by a motive to understand, originating from

their own curiosity

in addition, intrinsic motivation the goal to master and the

desire to understand is a concept that can be

seen as corresponding to one another


i`m sure dear sisters and brothers that u r all motivated already

but we should give it a bush a little bit more and apply it in our daily life


to sum up, in applying what's mentioned above

we should consider all the facilities available and use them

the net is a main one, then y not to begin?

I totally agree with you

What u called (lecturing) in ur reply is something terrible. I do hate lecturing. It's boring

I used to tell my supervisor "please, don't let me atteend presentations or workshops where lecturing is the way to communicate".

I'm trying my my best to avoid (lecturing) with my students. They learn through games, group work and projects and thank God they're enjoying it. Learning through fun, that's what I believe in. I'm trying to apply whatever I learned from my first job in government schools.

I want to ask u a favor, if u don't mind. I would like to make 3 posts, one for new words, the other for new idioms and expressions and the last one for common mistakes and grammtical points
