Points to Be Considered When asked to give analysis

Here are some points, of my personal knowledge ,which may help to analyise any poem

Whatever the poem you are asked to give a precise analysis is ,you have to bear in mind some important steps to be considered . Those steps could be clearly illustrated as the following

First of all : To give a little account as much as you can about the poet /poetess of that poem .

Second: Critical appreciation of the poem comes next ,you have to deal with the poem directly as the following

a- Have a comprehensive look at the poem as a whole
b- Then, have a close look at each Stanza separately ,starting from the first one on
c- Try to scan for figures of speech .Figures of speech are either Sound devices such as Alliteration ,consonance or Sense devices such as Simile , metaphore

Third : Write down a general idea about what the poem talks about ,like indicating the main theme of it

Fourth: Never forget to write down your own opinion about it ,what do you think ,how do you feel .It is important to quote some lines or verses of the poem to prove that

Finally : write a conclusion using your own words as a final step
