عن الاجازة و العطلة"How I Spent My Summer Holiday"
I had a great holiday. I took two full weeks off work to hang out at home, attend a wedding, visit family, go shopping and just read and relax. It was awesome and it went by way too quickly. Some of the highlights:
I now have a fence for my backyard. Now I can actually sit out on my deck and enjoy myself and not feel like I'm on display. It's nice and there's still enough summer left to enjoy it. Plus I can take advantage of all the end-of-season sales to plan next year's back yard transformation. Yay!
A wonderful friend of mine got married and the ceremony was lovely. Very simple, straightforward and short. The party after was even better. It was a great time - a real celebration. And it WASN'T on a long weekend! I love my friend - she's the best and she totally gets it. It was at the lake and everyone was in summer mode. I even went canoeing on the morning of the wedding - it was hot, sunny and perfect. Saw - and heard - a lot of loons. Such a nice change from the geese.
I watched one of the Riders games on my sister's plasma widescreen in HD. NICE. I still have my first TV from when I moved out at 18. I even had rabbit ears just over 18 months ago (that only lasted 3-4 months, though). Great game, great picture - good times. I'd like to upgrade, but TV just isn't a priority for me.
Shopping! I spent a few hundred dollars on clothes. Lots of clothes and accessories. I found some great deals and just splurged on myself. Clearly, clothes are a priority for me.
So is reading. I read Micheal Pollan's In Defense of Food. Excellent book. I've since cleaned my cupboards out and have become an even bigger freak about the food I eat. I didn't think it was possible, but I love surprises. Do you realize how many food products contain modified something or other? Modified corn starch. Modified milk ingredients. Modified palm kernel oil. Blech. By the way, I've REALLY enjoyed my meals lately. Mmmm. Real food. (I've now moved on to The Mommy Myth - I just started it, so I'll let you know how it goes. I'm still on chapter 1. So far so good, though. It's about the image of motherhood portrayed by the media.)
I'm not a gamer, but I played Indiana Jones LEGO a lot on PS2. I loved LEGO as a kid (still do, actually) and the characters in the game look like LEGO. I played Star Wars LEGO last year and this latest game was tons of fun. Yeah, there's my inner geek creeping out. Pass the Doritos.
And - I didn't check my email at all. Personal or professional. And I didn't watch or listen to any newscasts or read a paper. I just tuned out the world and gave my brain a break - I can't take it in without thinking about work. I've tried. So now it's time to catch up.

about Saher system
What is Saher?
It is an automated traffic control and management system which covers major cities in Saudi Arabia, and uses digital cameras network linked with the National Information Center of Ministry of Interior.
Element of the project:
A) Systems of the project:
1. Traffic Management System (TMS)
2. Auto Vehicle Location (AVL)
3. License Plate Recognition system (LPR)
4. Variable Message Sings (VMS)
5. Closed Circuit TV (CCTV)
6. Law Enforcement System (LES)
· All these systems will be linked with the command and control centers located in eight cities Kingdom wide.
· Photo of the erring vehicle license plate broadcast (over speeding, beating a red light and other traffic violations). · The violation received at the Violation Processing Center. · Information about the owner of the vehicle obtained from the National Database at the National Information Center. · Violation ticket issued. · The violation ticket issued and mailed to the violator to his mailing address registered at the National Information Center at Ministry of Interior. · Settlement of traffic tickets may be made by Sadad payment system through ATM.
B) Command and control centers:
Saher system project includes the establishment of Command and Control centers through which all systems to be linked and operated.
1- Main functions of the system:
Traffic Management System (TMS)
Highly sophisticated electronic system designed to improve movement of traffic automatically through automated control of traffic lights based on monitoring of traffic movement in all directions in each intersection, which called Green Wave.
2- Auto Vehicle Location system (AVL):
An electronic system designed to track the location of Traffic police vehicles to direct them to deal quickly with certain traffic cases as well as to manage all field patrols.
3- License Plate Recognition system (LPR):
An electronic system installed at the entrances and exits of cities in order to identify vehicles for statistical purposes, as well as for traffic wanted and stolen vehicles through license plates of these vehicles.
4- Variable Messaging Sings system (VMS):
Network of electronic guidance signs for live broadcast designed to guide motorists to avoid traffic congestion on the roads.
5- Closed Circuit TV systems ( CCTV):
Electronic system designed to monitor live traffic movement on the main roads.
6- Law Enforcement system (LES):
Network of cameras, fixed and mobile radars to automatically, without human intervention,monitor and control traffic violations, as well as issue traffic violation tickets and notifies violators.
Circulation of traffic violation ticket:
· The offending vehicle automatically monitored by cameras.
Objectives of the project:- To enhance the public security by using the latest surveillance systems. - To ensure strict, accurate and constant implementation of traffic regulations.
- To improve level of traffic safety
- To utilize the latest and most advanced technology in the field of intelligent transportation (ITS) in order to create a safe traffic environment.
- To upgrading the existing road network.
Technical features of Saher:
- Live monitoring of traffic.
- Better management of traffic.
- Quick handling of traffic cases.
- Increase the efficiency of traffic patrols.
- Live monitoring of traffic situations and accidents.
- Automated control of traffic violations
