when i am insomniac, i usaually get up and pray hoping that Allah help me to stop thinking and being worried. really, i don't know why i am always worried . as you said there is usually no reason. i wish i can get red of it because it is worsening my health.

hi, alraad , ur Question is very important , ya ,I think it has both, good aspects& bad ones, one of them is our secondary syllabus I think they are old too much , our students used to relax their selves , just say ( please teacher , omit, they are too much, , something like that ) our intermediates I think they are very good , but they want bright mind ) I am just talking about English subject

i think that the solution of our problem, or more precisely yours because i am not Saudi(loooool)is that the ministry of Education should have a closer look at our schools and our children. the problem is not the curriculum 100%, but the behavior of our students, teachers and also parents have a great percentage of causing problems and weakness in the educational system. as for teachers, i think that appointing newly graduated teachers to replace old qualified foriegn ones is a big mistake. you may say that some foriegners are bad and may be responsible for spoiling students, you know by private lessons and the like. the ministry should be stricter in dealing with such teachers. any way. i faced many newly graduated Saudi teachers. frankly, they were very afraid of entering the class because they said they didn't have anything to give. i attended classes with them. i found that they have the kind of information which i had when i was in the sixth grade. i am not exaggerating, this is the truth.
this is the first axis of our problem. i will leave the others to you to answer . that is, my question to you is:
How can parents be an important factor for the problem in our educational system?
we the teachers and the learned people in the socity
we don't need to stay in our offices and wait for a parent come to us
no .. not like that
we have to get out of our air conditioned affices and take a very bold step
we have to go to the parent ourselves
we know that these days people are very busy and so are us but we have to take the first step

The idea of knocking at the doors of parents is an idea that used to be applied many years before, that was when we were living in small villages and suberbs, when there were only a few students at school. a teacher, at that time, used to be one of the the people of the village. he could see fathers and relatives to tell them about their children at school. however, nowadays the situation has changed a lot. we, as teachers, cannot do that. the parents are responsible for taking care of their children outside the walls of school. our responsibility don't exceed 6 hours a day. some parents, send their children to school not to learn, but to be away from them for a few hours. they cannot control them. the burden, then will fall on our shoulders. we invite all the parents every year to come to have an idea about their children. very few of them come, but who comes? only the parents of the good students. So, many parents form an important role in inflating our crisis. some of them are darm busy in their resthouses with friends. others are busy with their deals and contracts. the rest of them are those who are helpless and cannot refuse any thing they are told by thier wives regarding dealing wwith thier children. In addition, mothers may hide the bad things their children do. they don't tell the father fearing from home problems.
frankly, this issue is very hard to deal with. if i want to discuss it in details, it will take weeks and months. and finally, we will not change anything. ( walk where you are). right?

Do you think that luxurious life is an important factor in spoiling most of our students? if yes, How?
a student of a middle class family studies in the morning and does some business with his father in the afternoon and studies in the evening in some institutes for improving language and computer skills....dreams

I wish I could have a nice mobile like my friends
and so on
then he makes a promis with him self that he works hard and learns and then finds a job then improves his and his family's living standered.
BUT
the one who was born with a golden spoon in his mouth
has no dreams
no wishes
no hopes
because he has everything that a person looks for
he has a latest model car
a latest mobile set
a huge amount of pocket money
then these people get bored of their lives
and after that we find many of them using drugs
or doing bad habits
etc.

it doesn't need description. if the situation remains as it is, no promising future can be expected. the problem has to be solved by officials from the roots.otherwise,don't expect a very good future.

Because it is a strange, special, attractive subject, it is also interesting and important language

the first reason of our students' failure to pass in English is teachers themselves. some teachers lack the principles of teaching this subject. they may have a complete knowledge of English, but they don't have the correct methods to apply in the class. other group of teachers don't have patience on teaching English. they always want fast results. So , this is reflected badly on our students. another point is that some foreign teachers don't explain lessons and always threaten students that they will fail to enforce them come to take private lessons. the problem is not in private lessons,but it is in what is given in this lesson. as soon as the teacher receives his money, he stopsa giving students any material.
another reason flows from home. as soon as a student reaches the sixth grade, his parents and older brothers and sisters start frightening him or her from English. they portray English as a monster or as an obstacle against success. other parents sometimes force their students to take private lessons to pass regardless understanding and mastering the material.
a third effective reason is the MOE system which has issued that students can pass English if they gain very few grades or if they pass in all other subjects.
solutions:
spreading consciousness among students by distributing brochures about the importance of English and the danger of private lessons. in addition, schools' counselors should invite parents to urge them to encourage and reinforce their children to study English.
Newly graduated teacher should not be appointed after graduation directly. they should attend classes with old and experienced teachers. also, colleges and universities should increase courses of teaching methods.
the most important solution, i think, is that the MOE should reconsider the criteria of passing and failing the subject of English. English should be in the same rank of Arabic and religion subjects.

watching and listening to English programs and movies would help alot

I have planned nothing so far. Any way , i don't think that there will be any plans. i will spend the vacation with my family in Jordan to relax from the long school year. this is not a plan because i am jordanian working in KSA.

We do not have any preprations.For me my children are elementary....problem is correcting the students sheets caz here in Saudi Arabia we spend long time until we finish correcting even to 3 a.m so it is hard for married women to do so

I DON'T THINK THAT EARLY MARRIAGE IS A GOOD STEP FOR A HAPPY LIFE FOR MOST OF OUR YOUTH. OF COURSE, THERE ARE MANY REASONS. FOE EXAMPLE, THE ENGAGED COUPLE IN THIS AGE LACK EXPERIENCE IN LIFE AND TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. MOST OF OUR YOUNG MEN ARE USED TO HAVE THINGS DONE BY THEIR PARENTS AND ELDER BROTHERS AND SISTERS. THEY ARE NOT READY TO DO ALL THINGS BY THEMSELVES. OUR YOUNG WOMEN ARE THE SAME. THEIR INTELLECTUAL ABILITIES ARE STILL IMMATURE AND THEY NEED TIME TO GET USED TO BURDENS OF LIFE. MARRIAGE IS NOT WAHAT THESE COUPLE THINK ABOUT. HAPPINESS CANNOT FLOW FROM BED ONLY. THE PROBLEM WORSENS AFTER THE FIRST BABY. EVEN OLDER COUPLES FIND DIFFICULTY IN REARING AND TAKING CARE OF CHILDREN. cONSEQUENTLY, MOST EARLY MARRIAGES END IN DIVORCE. IN SAUDI ARABIA, FOE EXAMPLE, EARLY MARRIAGES IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT REASONS IN INCREASING THE RATE OF DIVORCE IN THE KINGDOM.
EVEN IF THERE WAS ABUNDANCY OF MONEY AND LIFE LUXURIES, THE PROBLEM WILL BE THE SAME. ONE OF MY INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD MARRY IN SUMMER. FRANKLY, I WAS SURPRISED. I ASKED HIM WHY WOULD HE MARRY IN THIS AGE. HE LAUGHED AND TOLD ME "BECAUSE I WANT TO HAVE FUN AND MY MOTHER TOLD ME TO DO SO AS I AM HER ONLY SON.
