Water, Please!
An Englishman is lost
in the desert. After two
days without any water,
he sees another man,
who has a shop. “Water,
please. I need some
water,” says the Englishman.
“I’m sorry,” replies the other man,
“but I only sell ties.”
“Ties! Ties! What do I want with
ties!” the Englishman says angrily.
“Oh, well, there’s a restaurant just over
the hill.”
“Really?” says the Englishman. “Why, thank
you,” he says, and he heads off to the
restaurant.
Four hours later, the Englishman comes
back. This time he’s really, really thirsty.
“You told me there
was a restaurant,” the
Englishman says.
“That’s right,” the other
man answers.
“But you didn’t tell me
about the strict dress
code!”
“That’s right,” says
the other man.
“Now would you
like to buy a tie?”
