    Wedding Customs And Traditions

Different cultures, different customs very different traditions. That’s the way of weddings. Every religion, region and country has different wedding traditions. There are close similarities, yet they are still very different.

I am most familiar with the traditional Catholic wedding but there are many other ways of celebrating such a joyous occasion. In thirteenth century Scotland, the announcement of intended marriages was a process of banns of marriage. Although this has recently been outdated, it leaves its influence on announcing marriages. After announcing the marriage proposal there is a fourteen-day waiting period before any arrangements are made for the couple.

Like bridal showers held before a traditional Catholic wedding, a show of presents is held for the bride to be. Instead of wrapped gifts bidding the bride good luck, all gifts are unwrapped and displayed as necessary. A simple card or the guest who brought the gift accompanies these gifts. After this show of presents, the bride is dressed up in traditionally a long dress and train made from any fabric. She is then escorted around town with guests making loud noises announcing the wedding to be. The bride to be carries a baby doll, “plastic pot

    WEDDING CULTURE IN OUR SOCIETY

    Wedding In Oman

When the set day of the wedding comes, there are a lot of things to do. First of all, it has to be on Thursdays and Fridays, as Thursdays and Fridays are the weekend here in Oman. The bride's family prepares the bride very well. They decorate her hands and feet with henna. Also, they but on the make up at a salon. In the past the brides wore a green dress, but nowadays they prefer a big white dress, the bigger, the better. On the other hand, the men in the groom's family prepare the groom with a haircut and put an expensive scarf on his head and an expensive kangar. At night, they celebrate either in the house or in a hotel, or outside in an open space decorated for the occasion. The women arrive at first with the bride and dance. The groom arrives later. Then they sing together and dance. In addition, they take photos together. After that, the couple goes to sleep. After the wedding day in the morning, the bride's family visits the bride and the groom family prepares lunch for them. Also, people go to eat lunch and congratulate the groom. After three days, the groom and the bride leave for honeymoon to start a new family.

Finally as you read, weddings in Oman have special things and its own costumes. It is totally different from other countries. I hope you it as I do. I want our traditions to continue forever, because it is the source of happiness for Omanis.

The concept and definition of a marriage may change with time, but its value remains unchanged. A wedding is a ceremony to celebrate the wedlock of a bride and groom. For most of the people wedding is the most important day of their life, the day they unite with their soul mate and vow to be with them for the rest of their lives. The celebration of a wedding may vary between different countries, religions, culture and social classes, but the joy and festivity associated with the ceremony invariably remain in the same.

A number of cultures utilize the western custom of a bride wearing a white dress. The custom of exchanging rings may be the oldest and most universal symbol of marriage, but the origins are unclear. The ring’s circular shape represents perfection and never-ending love. The rings are exchanged during the wedding ceremony and symbolize the love, faithfulness and commitment of the marriage union.

The wedding is often followed by a reception during which the rituals include toasting the bride and groom, the newlyweds’ first dance as husband and wife, cake cutting, etc.

A Pakistani wedding is a beautiful combination of bright colors. In fact, it is one of the most enthusiastically celebrated occasions. Grooming of bride starts at least a month before the ceremony. The relative girls of both bride and groom make beautiful dresses for the ceremony. In addition, the dress of the bride is one of the most important things. The wedding dress here in Pakistan is made with beautiful fabric on which different types of embroideries and embellishments are done. The typical color of the wedding dress is red but now with the advancement of fashion other colors are also being used
