Depending on the number of inhabitants, human settlements are usually classified as cities, towns or villages. Cities are generally larger and more densely populated than towns and have industrial, commercial and residential areas. Most cities also perform administrative functions. A town in smaller than a city but larger than village, it has smaller areas as a market, commercial and administrative hubs for the surrounding countryside and villages. Their population is generally smaller than the cities.

Location and history of a place also plays a part in it being designated as a City or a Town.
In densely populated countries like India and China, many towns are larger than the state and national capitals of many sparsely populated countries.Villages are small rural settlements largely dependent on agriculture, tourism or a specialized skill.

There are many differences between life in the village and the city life .These differences are like the distinction between both the earth and sky. Some of us prefer the life of the city instead of the village , some people prefer to live in the village instead of city.There are lots of facilities for people in the city and they have more opportunities to find the perfect job. life where I live ,in the village, is quieter than living in a city.In the city, there are lots of factories and cars that occur nuisance and pollution of the environment. On the contrary, in the village there are a lot of farms which help to soften the atmosphere. And no need for the cars in the village because isn't as wide as the city.In the city we may have whatever we want from markets, hospitals, schools and universities and on the contrary of the village which based on agriculture and traditional medicine. This feature makes people leave the villages to live in cities.In the city there are a lot of people, it is hard to recognize them all. But in the opposite there are a few people in the village and everyone knows each other, leading to increase social networking between people. Many crimes happen in the city and is difficult to identify the offender. While a few crimes in the village and it's easier to know the doer because everyone knows each other.On the other hand there are a lot of similarities between living in the city or living in the village. All of the people whom are in the village and the people who live in the city wakes up early to do their jobs. People in the village wakes up to work on farms and grazing sheep, in the city they work in factories, businesses and schools ...etc.finally, living in the city or in the village you eventually will need to find a job and it won't be easy to find one in your place so you would look for one around the cities near you.I prefer to live in the village but I am actually living in a city to study, there are lots of availability and features that doesn't exist in the village.
